The original principal actors from the London production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child have been confirmed to reprise their roles on Broadway. Jamie Parker, Noma Dumezweni and Paul Thornley will reunite for the Spring 2018 premiere, as respectively, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
They will be joined by several other original castmates from London: Poppy Miller (Ginny Potter), Sam Clemmett (Albus Potter), Alex Price (Draco Malfoy) and Anthony Boyle (Scorpius Malfoy). It will be a large cast totaling 28 actors, one of the few shows currently on Broadway that can sustain a company as large as this.
This show is sure to be highly anticipated and a traffic-stopper when it begins performances. A separate London production is ongoing and has been playing to sold-out houses full of enthusiastic Potter-philes and Muggles alike. It is very certain that the Broadway run will be no different. I will be excitedly traveling to London in couple of weeks to experience this theatrical event.
The two-part cycle will play at the Lyric Theatre for previews beginning March 2018 for an April 22 opening. The theatre is undergoing a complete renovation to specifically fit and make way for an immersive world of Harry Potter. Tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster.com on October 12. Fans will have to register first through the Ticketmaster Verified Fan period from October 1 -5 before they can be selected to buy the coveted tickets.
More updates as they come will be posted here.
